What is Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) ?

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a developmental disability as a result of neurological differences. People with ASD often experience social communication and interaction difficulties, and may have restricted or repetitive behaviors and / or interests. Learning, moving, and attention span can look different for those with ASD.

Initial Problem

How might we create an affordable and accessible toy for children with autism that can help promote developmental skills and engagement in a learning environment?

Reframed Problem

Current toilet designs in schools lack the sense of security and stimulation for children with autism. How might we be able to help children gain a sense of independence in the bathroom and promote healthier toileting habits?
