Designed for the third annual Beyond Fashion show which takes place at Rochester Institute of Technology and attributes Massimo and Lella Vignelli, a husband-and-wife team who are some of the most renowned and respected designers of the 20th and 21st centuries; their iconic work still bodes on all around us.

In 2010 the Vignellis donated their career archive to RIT's Vignelli Center for Design Studies. The 19,000-square-foot world-class facility now boasts a design museum accessible to people worldwide. The Center is an international hub and its unique resources serve as a destination for professionals and scholars from around the world. The Center's distinctive archival resources of such pioneers provides a dynamic learning environment for students and local designers alike. Each year, Beyond Fashion is held and calls upon a theme of the infamous Vignellis, of which was The Grid is Everything in 2023.
Inspiration
“All the work I do is based on grids. I can’t design anything without a grid. I am so accustomed to using a grid I use it for everything, even stationery. The grid provides a tool for quick solutions. Without a grid I‘m desperate; I have no starting point. With a grid I can do a 150-page book in one day––layout, sketching, every picture in it; without sketching i can do a 300-page book in one day. Without the grid I couldn’t do it.” - Massimo Vignelli
